My childhood long friend turned out to be gay, Whislt I once dated him; i was shocked and became Homophobic for a while... then I learnt is was naturl and forgave him and lost my homophobia
I don't care about one's sexuality, even if I am a Roman Catholic. I think people prefer to discriminate gays because of Christianity's view on gays as moral sinners. Now, how the hell is being in love with the same sex, is the same thing as destroying your bond with God? I honestly don't get that part of my religion, which I find very wonderful. (I'm not saying Christianity's the "best" religion or a "great" religion, I'm just saying I love being Christian, that is all.) !Mortalis4369's comment about Homosexuality being a mental illness somehow hurt me. I am a Straight female who has ADHD and has been called crazy once (by a relative), and in a way it hurts me too, because how he said it was very discriminating, as having a mental illness is something people can actually use to discriminate a person yet at the same time, mental illnesses are complex and those who have it are having a very hard time. It's discriminating to all gays and probably to all with mental illnesses. What saddened me though is that his hate originates from him being molested by a homosexual pedophile when he was a child. But people will have their opinions.
Now, what I am pointing out is that being gay is nothing to be ashamed of. Your sexual preference is nothing more than what you like. Hating gays is like hating people who like Pop music. Of course, sexual preference is in a much, much higher circle of importance, but still. In the end, there will be people who will be different.
And yeah, I have a gay friend who is really great to be with (Well, it's online but still!). (Seriously, I was being so down once, but he cheered me up instantly)
Having different opinions is not makes a war. It is not respecting another's opinion is. (Not sure if there is a quote like this already but this my own quote from scratch)
